We are martas

Hospitality bears a Name

The feeling of being welcomed after a long and strenuous journey, that feeling of arrival is what we strive to provide to each of our guests. We want you to feel welcome from the moment you set foot through the door. We want you to check-in and feel serene – in our hotels and guesthouses.

Inns and hostels have, in one form or another, existed ever since people began to travel, and their business has always been to cater and accommodate. Our name martas alludes to the famous biblical figure Marta who lived in the small village of Bethany over 2000 years ago. Jesus found refuge at Marta’s inn any time he was in close proximity.

martas Values
Individual

We want everyone to feel welcome at martas. Our goal is to cater to each of our guests as individuals.

Relaxing

An escape at martas should be rejuvenating. Guests leave relaxed and recharged after their stay with us.

Professional

Our guests can trust our employees to provide service of the highest quality. They attend to any concerns or requests.

Responsibility

As an organisation governed by Christian values, we care about each individual and also society as a whole.

“From our receptionists, our kitchen and waiting staff and bar keepers to our service and cleaning staff – We strive to impersonate Marta’s hospitality throughout our houses. Martas is embodied in all of our employees’ endeavours to make you feel welcome in each of our houses.”

G for Generosity and doing Good

Doing good – we aspire to do and be good in every aspect of martas. Grounded in our Christian values, we aspire to provide people with more than just accommodation: we intend to provide a home away from home. Therefore, as a subsidiary of the Berlin City Mission, we aid in funding their housing and support projects for socially disadvantaged people.

martas and the Berlin City Mission

The Berlin City Mission was established in 1877 and has since held true to its founding mission of supporting the wellbeing of Berlin’s most vulnerable communities. The Berlin City Mission manages 17 City Mission churches and more than 40 social welfare facilities, including the eight houses of martas.

martas Values in Everyday Life

Details make a difference. Our attention to detail is a defining quality and can be observed throughout our houses and service: the atmosphere when entering the foyer, the personalised designs of our leaflets and our website and even the care with which each coffee is brewed.
